Machine heads most recent album "The Blackening" has been hugely successful winning Metal Hammers "Best Album" and kerrangs "album of the year" awards. The blackening is a masterpiece album. I would recomend listening to "Slanderous" and "A farewell to arms" as well as "Halo" just for a taste of their amazing sound.

Phil Demmel from Machine head uses jackson Guitars and has his own signature models availible for purchase. The guitars are custom Jackson King V's with EMG pickups.

Machine head is an amazing band I strongly recommend you take the time to listen to them as they are ledgendary. I insist that you listen to thier cover of "Hallowed be thy name" by IRON MAIDEN as it is a great cover and it gets me in a great mood everytime i hear those sweet riffs.

During the holidays Alice Springs hosted a gig to showcase its metal talent. 6 bands played- Beyond the shattered skies, Miazma, Here Among Dead, Her Mortuary, Helm Of Darkness and Children of steel. The gig was a great display of Alice's Metal music scene. The show was at the Todd Tavern and a new group of people did the mixing and made it sound great. There is some video and photographic footage around so have a look at some of it if you wernt able to be there.

Zakk attack

Zakk Wylde, If you saw him walking down the street you would turn in the other direction and run. You would think who is this huge bikie. You would not think, i wonder if he plays guitar. Well, he does, and he absolutely shreds at it. Zakk wylde is one sick guitar player. Zakk has played for Ozzy Osbourne and has also done alot of solo work. Zakk chooses to shred his custom "Bullseye" Gibson guitars. He favours the gibson les paul and you will usually find him using EMG pickups in his axes. Zakk has released various custom guitars and also custom guitar effects including overdrive and wah. Zakk has done some great work, have a listen to his great skills sometime.

BFMV anyone?

Here Among dead are a 5 piece brutal metal band from the center of Australia. They have recently just played thier first gig at the Todd Tavern with other local bands. Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom released his newest signature guitars last year. They are great guitars based on the Randy Rhoads guitar body shape. The guitars are made by ESP and esp LTD. There are 5 models going from the top of the line Esp's to the moderate level Ltd's. The guitars feature one Pickup (an EMG or a ltd), Floyd Rose tremolos, 24 fret necks and awsum finishes.

Trivium

Trivium is a hugely successful metal band. Having released various albums including the crusade and ascendancy, they know thier stuff. Trivium has recently released thier fourth album titled "Shogun". Shogun is an intense album featuring japenese influenced songs. Trivium has two awsum guitarists that belt out thier sweet sound. Trivium's guitar sound is composed from Corey Beaulieu and Matt Heafy. Matt uses his custom Dean MKH ml thorugh peavy heads and plays with effects such as overdrive. Coreys rig consists of his custom Dean guitar run through Peavy 6550+ heads and uses overdrive effects mainly. Trivium are currently playing 7 string guitars because thats the main sound of "Shogun.To sample some of triviums sound check these tracks out.

Job For A Cowboy

Job For A Cowboy (JFAC), is a brutal death metal band from Arizona. JFAC formed in 2003 and since then they have released two albums, Doom and Genesis. JFAC's style combines fast guitar riffing with brutal vocals and pig squeals to compliment the pounding bass drums. They are nutorious for playing amazing live shows. I recommend listening to tracks like entombment of a machine, Knee deep and coalescing prophecy to get a taste of this brutal bands sound.

John 5

John 5 is a legendary shred guitarist. Having playing in bands such as Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie he has gained the experience to release various solo albums such as Devil knows my name and Requim. John 5 plays custom J5 fender telecasters through Marshall amps to get his killer shred sound. Check out a few of his songs like Sounds of impalement, they are amazing.

New Adrian Smith Guitars from Jackson

Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden has launched his signature models by Jackson guitars. There are two colour variations of the guitars and features including a Floyd Rose Original tremolo, HSS pickups and 22 fret necks. Check them out if your a Maiden fan, they are great guitars.
